Borrowed from the Adinkra symbols of the Asante Tribe of West Africa, the symbol represented in this piece means --- MMERE DANE ---"TIME CHANGES". The use of a cane is usually due to a change in the way one perambulates.

Made from oak, this stand was cherry stained and teak oiled. It stands 20-1/2" H, x 10-1/4" W, x11"D and has felt inserts on the base.
